Hazel Radant's Criminally Easy Cobbler - Preheat oven to 350°F. - Spray 7" square baking pan with Pam. (The pan can actually be any shape, including parallelogram, like the one we used to prop the garage door open with.) - Open a can of fruit pie filling, and dump it into the lubricated pan so it makes the sound "poit." - Spread the filling flat with the back side of a large spoon, and then lick it clean. Spread a second time if necessary. - Evenly sprinkle your choice of yellow, white, or lemon cake mix on top of the pie filling in a 1/2" layer. Clumps are good. Should resemble surface of moon. - Crumbled pecans or walnuts optional, but recommended for added calories. - Place pads of butter about an index finger's length apart on top of the cake mix moon surface. - Bake at 350°F for oh, I don't know, about 20 minutes or until golden brown and convincingly cobblerish. - Serve piping hot with a blob of ice cream. (Refuse to divulge recipe.) - Serves 6 regular people or 3 or 4 Radants. Hazel Radant is the criminally easy-cooking mother of Christine Radant, author of the original short story Home for the Holidays on which the film of the same name is based.
